If you want to work as a kinesiologist in Ontario, you must be registered with the College of Kinesiologists. The title “kinesiologist” can only be used by individuals registered with the College.
To become a registered kinesiologist, you must pass the College’s entry-to-practice exam. The exam is offered twice per year- once in the spring and once in the fall. You may write the exam at any time after graduation, but you cannot call yourself a kinesiologist until you have successfully passed the exam and paid your registration fee.
Step 1: Apply to write the exam
To begin the application process, select the category below that applies to you. If you are applying to re-write the exam, do not submit a new application. Email the College and you will be provided with further instructions.
- I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology that is at least four years in length from an Ontario university
- I graduated with a bachelor’s degree similar to kinesiology (e.g. physical education, human kinetics) that is at least four years in length from an Ontario university
- I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology that is less than four years, or a degree similar to kinesiology, that is at least four years in length from another Canadian province
- I am internationally educated
Applicants with special needs may contact the College via email or at (416) 961-7000 ext. 106 if they require assistance with completing their application.
Step 2: Write the exam
Once the College has approved you to write the exam, you must take your first attempt at the exam within one year of becoming approved.
Step 3: Complete your registration
After passing the exam, you must complete your registration with the College. This involves paying the registration fee and submitting required documentation. Learn more about completing your registration.
