Fair Registration Practices

The Office of the Fairness Commissioner (OFC) is an independent agency of the Ontario Government. The OFC works with regulatory bodies in Ontario to ensure that their registration requirements are transparent, objective, impartial and fair. It is independent of the regulatory bodies, and it cannot help internationally trained individuals obtain their professional licences or conduct an assessment of an individual’s credentials.

The OFC requires regulators to submit yearly reports about their registration practices and their compliance with the requirements of the Fair Access to Regulated Professions Act, 2006 and/or the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991. The OFC uses the information provided in the report to conduct an assessment of compliance. Known as the Fair Registration Practices Report, the OFC poses a series of questions related to initial registration requirements that the regulatory body must answer.
