The College and our exam provider are closely monitoring local COVID-19 restrictions imposed by the Ontario Government.

Currently, three locations where the exam will be offered (Toronto, Sudbury and Thunder Bay) are in the Grey Zone (i.e. lockdown) of the province’s COVID-19 Response Framework. This means that meeting and event spaces, typical places where the exam would be held, are closed until further notice. We do not expect these regions to move out of lockdown in time for the exam on April 10.

The other exam locations (Windsor, London and Ottawa) are currently either in the Red (“Control”) Zone or Orange (“Restrict”) Zone. While smaller-scale meetings and events can occur in these regions, the situation is changing rapidly given the rise in variants of concern and the province’s introduction of the “emergency break”, meaning that a region can move into lockdown at any time.

The College also asked the Ontario Ministry of Health whether exams of these types are exempted from current restrictions. The Ministry responded that the exam cannot proceed in regions that are locked down.

As a result, the College has made the difficult decision to postpone the exam scheduled for April 10, 2021.

At this time, we cannot confirm a new date, but we continue to monitor the situation. We do not plan to defer this exam to September 2021; the exam will be re-scheduled as soon as is reasonably possible. When the exam is re-scheduled, we will follow up with all applicants to give them ample time to prepare.
