From Sept. 1 to Oct. 31, the revised Prevention of Sexual Abuse e-learning module and Professionalism and Ethics e-learning module will be available on your e-learning portal. All kinesiologists registered in the General Class and who have not yet completed these mandatory e-learning modules must do so between Sept. 1 and October 31, 2023. Members required to complete the modules will be notified via email when the portal is open – please make sure we have your up-to-date email.
Professionalism and Ethics e-learning module helps you understand how to apply the Code of Ethics and make ethical decisions in your practice.
Prevention of Sexual Abuse e-learning module helps you:
- Understand boundary violations and sexual abuse;
- Recognize signs of sexual abuse and what to do if boundary violations occur; and
- know your mandatory reporting obligations and how to respond to concerns of sexual abuse appropriately.
The revised Prevention of Sexual Abuse e-learning module clarifies the nature of the spousal exception and how it applies to kinesiologists in Ontario; and has been amended for further clarity and consistency with legislation.
Each module will take you about one to two hours to complete. You may complete the module at your own pace by Oct. 31. You can add the completion of the modules to your Portfolio and Individual Learning Plan as a Continuing Professional Development activity.
If you have completed the Prevention of Sexual Abuse e-learning module, you are not required to re-take the new e-learning module, but we encourage you to finish a refresher module we created to help you understand what’s changed in the new Prevention of Sexual Abuse e-learning module.
