Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health issues Directive #6 regarding COVID-19
This week, Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, issued an updated Directive regarding COVID-19. This order, DIRECTIVE #6, affects public hospitals (includes all staff, volunteers, and third-party businesses inside hospitals), organizations under Home and Community Care Act, Local Health Integration Network organizations, and paramedics.
In response to the growing prevalence of the Delta variant of COVID-19 in Ontario and worldwide, this updated Directive stipulates that the above-mentioned organizations, businesses, and practises must immediately have a COVID-19 vaccination policy in place for personnel including staff, contractors, volunteers, and students.
Specifically,
- Proof of vaccination against COVID-19 is required; or
- written proof from a relevant healthcare must be provided for declining vaccination due to medical reasons; or
- an educational session about the benefits of COVID-19 vaccination must be taken for declining the vaccination due to non-medical reasons.
For any questions or more information, please refer to Directive #6 or contact the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario at practiceadvice@coko.ca.
The College thanks all registrants for their continued awareness, cooperation, and compliance during these challenging times, and urges continued caution.
