Last December, CKO invited registrants to participate in various stages of the Competency Profile Revalidation, an essential step in updating the Kinesiologist Core Competency Profile. The competency profile provides the foundation for the development of CKO entry-to-practice examination and sets out the basis for registrants’ self-assessment, practice standards and the standards for professional conduct. It also helps to shape continuing professional development requirements and identify opportunities that improve the practice of kinesiology in Ontario.
To date, key industry leaders and CKO professionals have participated in one-on-one interviews, providing insights into emerging trends in the profession. Ontario educators have also met to review and provide feedback on the competency profile. Through a series of meetings, a Steering Committee comprised of professional members further defined and updated the competency profile for an entry-level practitioner.
Next Steps
At the end of summer 2023, all CKO registrants will be invited to participate in an online survey to provide feedback on the proposed updates to the competency profile. The Steering Committee will review all the feedback and finalize it at the end of 2023.
We value your input and strongly encourage all registrants to participate. By taking a few minutes to share your thoughts, you can actively contribute to the future growth and success of the profession. Keep an eye on your inbox for the upcoming email with the survey link.
