On November 3, 2020, the Ontario Government released a new COVID-19 response framework. This framework puts each public health unit in the province into one of five levels, depending on certain indicators. Kinesiologists who work in gyms and other fitness facilities are encouraged to review page 14 of the new framework, which details proposed measures on these facilities based on the region’s colour. In addition to the restrictions outlined in the framework, Toronto and Peel Region (Mississauga, Brampton and Caledon) have imposed additional restrictions. Of particular note to kinesiologists:
- Toronto is permitting gyms to open as of November 14, 2020, but indoor fitness classes are prohibited. Learn more about Toronto’s additional restrictions.
- Peel Region is discouraging group classes, but has outlined measures that should be followed if group classes are held. Review point four of Peel’s additional restrictions.
