This article is the second of a running series on the College’s Quality Assurance program. Our intent is to shed some light on some of the QA programs that kinesiologists may not know about or be less familiar with. The second, and one that will be coming soon, is the eLearning Modules.
The goal of the eLearning Modules is to assist in protecting the public by introducing or providing the opportunity for kinesiologists to review a general practice issue or a fundamental concept of practice. The program runs from September 1 – October 31.
Currently the College has two eLearning Modules that are active: the Ethics & Professionalism module, which helps kinesiologists understand how to apply the College’s Code of Ethics in daily practice, and the Prevention of Sexual Abuse module, which helps kinesiologists better understand boundary violations and sexual abuse.
All kinesiologists are required to complete the eLearning Modules but only once, so most kinesiologists have completed both by the end of the first year of their registration. Kinesiologists for whom it is mandatory will be contacted via email to notify them of the requirement. While it may not be a requirement, we would encourage review of the modules if you’ve already completed them!
Some common questions about the modules:
Q – Do I log in using my College username and password?
A – No, the eLearning Modules are hosted on the College’s Skilsure platform. Your username will be your College member ID and if it’s your first time logging into Skilsure, your password will be your date of birth
Q – Do I need to complete the modules if I’m in the Inactive Class of Registration?
A – No, only members in the active class are required to complete the eLearning Modules.
Q – I don’t remember if I’ve completed the modules previously, how can I check?
A – The simplest way is to reach out to Brian Fehst, the Manager of Professional Practice to confirm. Additionally, you will receive a notification email if it is a requirement.
The modules may be counted as a learning activity towards the bi-annual self-assessment, and more information regarding the modules can be found here. If you have any questions regarding the modules, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Brian Fehst, the Manager of Professional Practice, at professionalpractice@coko.ca.
