Many registrants’ professional liability insurance (PLI) coverage expires on Dec. 31 of each year. If you are registered in the General Class, you must have valid PLI coverage, regardless of whether you are currently employed or practising within the scope of kinesiology practice.
You must submit an updated copy of your PLI coverage to info@coko.ca with the subject line “Updated PLI” if any of the following applies to you:
- It has expired,
- There have been changes to the policy, or
- You have changed providers.
If you are registered in the Inactive Class, you do not need PLI coverage. The enduring (tail) insurance will provide protection once you move to the Inactive Class. When moving to the Inactive Class, you must declare that you:
- Are requesting an exemption from the PLI requirement;
- Have enduring (tail) insurance coverage for five years; and
- Have read and understood the College’s Professional Liability Insurance Policy and will obtain insurance again before practising.
